Berimbau is a recent development of Ton Haas industrial design. The opener uses the technology of cutting paper with a string. This makes it possible to cut thick and strong envelopes but in the same time is protects it’s user to cut himself by mistake. The opener cuts like a sharp knife but it feels like a soft toy or musical instrument. It is easy to manufacture on a large industrial scale with only its three parts for a low costprice. In a market which is full of so called new items this design can really be defined as spectacular new.
